|Announcing the New Trinidad and Tobago Division—Samantha Nelson|
Dear Hope of Survivors Family,
Over the past few months, I have been communicating with a young lady in Trinidad and Tobago who recognized the need for The Hope of Survivors in her country because she saw the devastating effects of clergy sexual abuse there and the lack of appropriate response from her church. I'm pleased to say that, now that all the paperwork and formalities are complete, she is now an official volunteer for The Hope of Survivors-Trinidad and Tobago (THOS-TT for short). I will allow her to introduce herself to you:
"My name is Afryea Charles and I live in the beautiful twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. In 2009 I felt strongly guided by God that I should submit myself to full-time ministry work. That decision has taken me on many adventures at home and abroad and it has given me a global perspective. It has humbled me, taught me about the simplicity of life, how to remain hopeful in adversity and drilled into me the Christ-like compassion I need for the hurting among us.
As I partner with The Hope for Survivors, it is my greatest desire to be used by God as a refuge, a safe haven, for those harmed by abuses in every type and form."
We are pleased to have formal representation in Trinidad and Tobago now and welcome Afryea to the team! If you live in Trinidad and Tobago, or know someone who does, please feel free to let them know they can contact Afryea directly by email.
There's much taking place at The Hope of Survivors and all its divisions right now. In fact, in just a few short weeks, we will have an exhibit at the Pacific Union ASI Convention in Weimar, CA. Gail and Elgin Jenkins will be staffing the booth so, if you're in the area, please stop by to see them. You can also check out the calendar for more details and additional events.
I invite your prayers for each of our board members, volunteers and, most of all, the victims of clergy sexual abuse we serve day in and day out. Thank you so much! Your ongoing financial support is also greatly needed and appreciated!
God bless you,
